Travel Consultant II

Overview: We are currently seeking a highly skilled Travel Consultant II to provide technical advice and guidance on domestic and foreign travel. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with policies and regulations, coordinate approvals with governmental officials, and provide support for specific projects related to e-Travel services and travel management. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong research skills, and the ability to address unique or unusual travel-related problems effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical advice and guidance on domestic and foreign travel regulations and procedures.
  2. Confirm that authorizations and vouchers comply with organizational policies and relevant regulations.
  3. Coordinate approvals for travel activities with appropriate governmental officials.
  4. Research precedent cases in the General Services Administration (GSA) Civilian Board of Contract Appeals (CBCA) and Government Accountability Office (GAO) Comptroller General Decisions to resolve unique or unusual travel-related problems.
  5. Draft responses for management review to agency inquiries regarding travel fund usage, including conferences, travel advances, and justifications for premium class travel.
  6. Support specific projects related to e-Travel services, domestic, and foreign travel management.
  7. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline travel processes and enhance efficiency.
  8. Stay updated on changes in travel regulations and best practices to ensure compliance and efficiency in travel operations.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  2. Previous experience in travel management, preferably in a government or corporate environment.
  3. Strong understanding of domestic and foreign travel regulations and policies.
  4. Excellent research skills with the ability to analyze precedent cases and apply findings to resolve travel-related issues.
  5. Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  6. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
  7. Proficiency in e-Travel systems and related software is desirable.
  8. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
